The Mansfield Chapter was officially licensed as a chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) on February 4, 1974.

Our first meeting place was the old Elks Club at the corner of Mulberry and West Third Streets. For six months prior to this, a group of men had been meeting there and singing under the direction of barbershopper Lou Mau of Elyria and Glen Fischer, a music teacher in Mansfield

Under licensure status, the President was Tom Hunter and Dave Kracker was the chorus Director. The group was chartered in September 1974 and held our first show in February, 1975 at Malabar High School.

Today we are known as the Mansfield Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The chorus is the Fun Center Chordsmen.
